Howdy!
Since launching my I.T. Tutoring business in June 2023, I have been blessed in that I have been able to deliver many bootcamp trainings (both in-person and virtual) for various industry certifications as well as delivered private I.T. tutoring sessions for those requesting additional assistance and tutoring to sharpen their (technical) skills. With that said, I have been blessed to have come across many clients and professionals in the field who have learned from me, but I wish to reach many more! While I will remain firm on the pricing of my individual I.T. tutoring, I wanted to reach those in which a private I.T. Tutoring session may be cost prohibitive, but instead provide another alternative that offers a lower cost option of getting training while also learning alongside and networking with other I.T. professionals.
Still’s Tech Study Hall is a community/collaborative study hall time where students can get face time with me, a highly decorated and accomplished Information Technology and Cybersecurity subject matter expert (SME), and up to 5 other students (6 in total) where we discuss and break down questions and topics regarding the IT/Cybersecurity certifications and concepts you are seeking to learn and/or gain additional expertise in. The Tech Study Hall is a stop gap between my individual/private I.T. tutoring sessions in regards to cost and community. This offering is meant as a lower cost option to getting assistance and tutoring from me while (optionally) allowing the students to participate in a “study hall” type environment where all students in the session benefit from observing the questions/concepts being dissected – we ALL learn more together! .
How It Works
- Each study hall session will be 60 minutes, with no more than 6 students per session, with each student receiving 10 minutes of “focus time” where I focus on THEIR specific topics and questions of concern, covering as MANY questions/topics in that time period as time permits.
- Study hall sessions are broken into “Starter”, “Intermediate”, and “Advanced” sessions, where the sessions are divided based on the certifications and concepts being discussed in each session to ensure students are getting the most value from being with other students learning around the same level.
- Community learning occurs when students choose to use their “focus time” to get tutoring on their topics/questions of their choice, allowing others to observe as they may have similar question(s) and/or can benefit from sharpening their existing skill set from observing the topics others are learning.
- While one of the goals for the study hall is community learning/observation, students will NOT be required to share their tutoring with others during their “focus time”. For a more private option, a breakout room can be created during our 10 minute “focus time” where other students will not be able to view or listen for privacy.
- If the study hall session has less than 6 students, we may optionally extend each student’s time for additional tutoring (at my discretion).
Best Ways to Use the Service
- Come prepared with the questions/topics you wish to further discuss
- Take practice quizzes and capture questions you need further clarification on
- Watch (free) content prior to joining the session so we are not explaining from ground zero, but with a foundation to start as to where I can further assist.
- Join the session at your technical level
- To best take advantage of the community aspect of the service, make sure to sign up for the correct session level which represents the topics/certifications you’re learning. This ensures you receive valuable education learning alongside and networking with others at your professional level.
- Email me your concerns PRIOR to the session
- Once you have determined the questions/concepts you wish to receive tutoring in, as mentioned in the “Come prepared…” step, it is best to have these items already captured and provide them to me PRIOR to the study hall session. This allows me to ensure that the full 10 minutes is utilized for tutoring. (Note: each session does have UNLIMITED questions during our 10 minute “focus time” so while you do NOT have to come prepared, research/waiting for you to search for additional questions may reduce the effectiveness of our time)
